The Bollywood Queen and Indian Diva looked resplendant in an all Indian attire.Aishwarya Rai, who has been the center of a tumultuous weight-gain controversy after the birth of her daughter just six months ago, debuted her post-baby body at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival on Thursday.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s affair with the Cannes began ten years ago. She made her debut at the revered film festival to promote her 2002 blockbuster film, ‘Devdas’. In 2003, the former Miss World became the first Indian actress to be jury member at the Cannes Film Festival. She also represents cosmetic giant L’Oreal at the fest. Each year, Aishwarya Rai has gracefully sashayed onto the red carpet in her couture gowns, flashing her famous smile. With the guessing game on about Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan’s attire at this year’s Cannes, a photo of the actress on the French Riviera sporting a black and white maxidress surfaced online on Thursday. And the designer of the dress was not Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla as reported earlier but Australian designer Angelo Katsapis. Aishwarya is seen wearing a loose-fitted dress in the photo. This is the 38-year-old actress’ 11th year at Cannes as a L’Oreal brand ambassador, and her first red carpet outing since the birth of daughter Aaradhya last November. Her Cannes wardrobe was kept a closely guarded secret and it was reported recently that she would be wearing Indian outfits instead of the usual haute couture gowns she sports every year. Her post-pregnancy weight gain had generated much buzz as well as attracted criticism, so there was much curiosity about her appearance at this year’s Cannes. Aishwarya also appeared for amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS event at Cannes later in the evening. .
